The society is steered by a board, currently comprised of 13
members.
The positions are open to anyone.
At least three positions must be held by early career researchers.
Should be a current board member.
The candidate nominates theirself by emailing the President.
The President then sends out a list to the Board to vote on.
If it’s a tie, the President decides.
The vice president will become the next president.
Anyone can nominate themselves, or others (in which case the board will confirm their interest) by emailing cytodata.info@gmail.com.
The nominee provides a 3-sentence summary of qualifications and interest, and the Communication Officer send out a list for the Society to vote on.
Majority of votes wins; if it’s a tie the Board will vote.
Loan Vulliard is currently AIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the DKFZ in Heidelberg, Germany. He works together with Felix Hartmann and Julio Saez-Rodriguez to reveal the quantitative principles underlying molecular biology and to better understand human health and diseases. For this, he uses data analysis methods and collaborate with experimentalists and experts in the fields of immunology and cell biology. In particular, he is developing machine learning approaches to identify and contextualize spatial patterns in multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI) data.

Lassi Paavolainen
Board member
I am a group leader at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM). My research group focuses on developing and applying machine learning methods for image-based profiling of microscopy imaging data. We study deep learning methods to extract complex information from fluorescence microscopy images of human cell and tissue samples that are employed for instance in cancer precision medicine applications. I was the CytoData society president 2020-2021.
Responsibilities Organize the CytoData2023 event and keep documentation of CytoData events.
Paula A. Marin Zapata
